The toll on the Cross Island Parkway (US 278) in Beaufort County is set to expire in 2021. The scope of work for the project currently includes removal of the existing toll plaza, including toll canopy, booths, excess pavement, and possibly the access tunnel. Additional scope items currently include roadway repairs such as resurfacing, strengthening and restriping along the parkway and ramps from US 278 Business to the Broad Creek Bridge. Other scope items may include additional pavement strengthening, bridge rehabilitation items such as resealing explanation joints, painting structural steel, and removal and replacement of high friction deck overlay.
