Columbia, S.C. (September 8, 2026) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will implement a temporary nighttime detour of I-77 southbound in Richland County as part of the construction for the new interchange at Exit 26 on September 15.
There will be two detour periods between mile markers 24 and 27:
- September 17 at 9 p.m. through September 18 at 6 a.m.
- In case of inclement weather: September 18 at 9 p.m. through September 19 at 6 a.m.
As part of this closure a detour route has been set up. A map of the detour can be found below. Traffic on I-77 northbound will be unaffected by the detours listed.
SCDOT asks that drivers slow down and pay attention to signs and crews when driving through the area.
