Columbia, S.C. (January 15, 2026) - SCDOT will hold a drop-in public meeting to share information about a proposed intersection improvement project at US 401 (Lamar Hwy.) and S-13 (S. Center Road) in Darlington County.
SCDOT will hold the drop-in-style meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2026 in the meeting room of the Darlington County Public Library, 204 North Main Street, Darlington, SC 29532. Members of the public will be able to see project plans and speak with SCDOT representatives about the projects.
SCDOT proposes to build a roundabout at the intersection of US 401 (Lamar Hwy.) and S-13 (S. Center Road). The purpose of the project is to improve traffic safety by reducing the frequency and severity of crashes. This intersection was selected for improvement through the Highway Safety Improvement Program, which uses a data-driven, strategic approach to identify locations throughout the state with high crash rates or patterns and implements safety enhancements through infrastructure-related improvements.
SCDOT will accept public comments on this project through February 13, 2026. For more information, visit: projectportal.scdot.org/US401roundabout.
