Columbia, S.C. (September 8, 2026) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will conduct traffic shift operations on I-20 eastbound over the Wateree River in Kershaw County beginning the night of Tuesday, September 8.
A single lane closure between mile markers 95 and 97 will be conducted to shift traffic from the existing I-20 eastbound bridge to the newly constructed bridge. Traffic shift operations are expected to be complete by the morning of Thursday, September 10.
Drivers should expect delays and seek alternate routes, if possible. SCDOT encourages drivers to use the 511SC app or visit 511sc.org to plan your route ahead and get real time traffic updates.
SCDOT asks that drivers slow down and pay attention when driving near the work zone.
