Columbia, S.C. (September 29, 2026) – The South Carolina Department of Transportation will conduct a temporary lane closure and flagging operations on US 601 in Richland County beginning Tuesday, October 6.
Traffic will be restricted to one lane under the US 378 bridge. The lane closure and flagging operations will begin after 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6 and end by 6 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7, pending any weather delays.
Drivers on US 601 and US 378 turning to drive under the bridge may be stopped for up to 30 minutes while work is done.
The closure is needed for bridge girders to be set over US 601 as part of the project to replace the US 378 bridge.
SCDOT asks that drivers slow down and pay attention when driving near the work zone.
