Columbia, S.C. (September 1, 2026) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will close the I-26 Eastbound rest area near mile marker 204 in Charleston County beginning Friday, September 11.
The rest area will be closed to allow for reconstruction of the facility and provide site improvements that will significantly increase both car and truck parking availability.
The closure and construction is expected to take approximately one year.
Due to ongoing work at the site, the rest stop will only be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. until September 11.
