Columbia, S.C. (October 13, 2026) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will close and detour a portion US 521 near Rembert in Sumter County beginning Thursday, October 15.
The closure will be between Ellerbe Mill Road (S-43-460) and TB Wright Road (S-43-109) and will begin overnight Thursday, October 15 and end overnight Sunday, October 18.
A signed detour is in place, and a map can be found below. Drivers are advised to take Horatio-Hagood Road (S-43-37) to SC 261, then to TB Wright Road (S-43-109) to get back to US 521.
The closure is needed to replace four 42 inch crossline pipes along US 521.
SCDOT asks that drivers slow down and pay attention when driving near the work zone.
