Columbia, S.C. (October 5, 2026) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will close and detour a portion US 521 near Rembert in Sumter County beginning Thursday, October 8.
The closure will be between Ellerbe Mill Road (S-43-460) and TB Wright Road (S-43-109) and will begin overnight Thursday, October 8 and end overnight Sunday, October 11.
A signed detour is in place, and a map can be found below. Drivers are advised to take Hagood Road (S-43-37) to SC 261, then to TB Wright Road (S-43-109) to get back to US 521.
SCDOT asks that drivers slow down and pay attention when driving near the work zone.
