UPDATE: The Marthan Road bridge will now be reopened Friday, October 30.
Columbia, S.C. (October 12, 2026) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will close and detour the Marthan Road (S-40-1437) bridge over I-77 for repairs beginning Monday, October 19.
The bridge will be reopened Friday, October 23, pending any weather delays.
A detour is in place for this closure. Drivers on Wilson Boulevard and Farrow Road can use North Pine Road as a detour. A map of the detour is below.
The closure is needed to make repairs to the bridge deck.
SCDOT asks that drivers slow down and pay attention when driving near the work zone.
