SCDOT surveys public about Johns Island bridge replacement project

COLUMBIA, S.C. (May 13, 2025) – The South Carolina Department of Transportation requests input from the public about a proposed bridge replacement project on S-91 (River Road) over Burden Creek on Johns Island.

As SCDOT works toward replacing this bridge in Charleston County, members of the public are asked to respond to an online survey and share their preferences about possible construction plans. The survey is available at burdencreekbridge.com through June 13.

The survey notes impacts associated with each potential construction plan, such as impacts to natural resources and historic or cultural sites, temporary detours and delays for the traveling public, and construction costs.

Results of the survey will help inform SCDOT’s development of project plans and materials to be shared at a public information meeting later this year.

In addition to the online survey, the public may also provide comments through June 13, 2025 by visiting burdencreekbridge.com or contacting Marx Saintelus, SCDOT Project Manager, 955 Park Street, Columbia, SC 29201, SaintelusMP@scdot.org or 803-737-1203.
