SCDOT to hold public meeting about road diet in City of Pickens

Columbia, S.C. (February 12, 2026) - SCDOT will hold a public meeting to share information about proposed traffic lane modifications on a group of roads located in the City of Pickens.

SCDOT will hold the meeting starting with a presentation at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Hagood Community Center, 129 Schoolhouse Street, Pickens, SC 29671. SCDOT representatives will be available to speak with attendees and answer questions about the proposed project.

The proposed project includes road diet-style lane changes along portions of US 178 (Pendleton Street), SC 183 (East Main Street), Cedar Rock Street and Johnson Street. Lane markings would be repainted, adding features such as two-way-left-turn lanes and on-street parking to improve roadway efficiency, safety, and accessibility. Lane modifications would be implemented within the existing pavement footprint and would take place in coordination with scheduled resurfacing work where possible.

SCDOT will accept public comments on this project through March 11, 2026. For more information, visit: projectportal.scdot.org/CityofPickensRoadDiet.
