SCDOT to hold public information meeting about intersection improvement project in Bamberg County

Columbia, S.C. (February 5, 2026) - SCDOT will hold a drop-in public meeting to share information about a proposed intersection improvement project at SC 70 (Country Club Road) at S-49 (Char-Augusta Road) in Bamberg County.

SCDOT will hold the drop-in-style meeting from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at Bamberg Public Library, 3156 East Railroad Avenue, Bamberg, SC 29003. Attendees will be able to see project plans and speak with SCDOT representatives about the project.

SCDOT proposes to build a roundabout at the intersection of SC 70 (Country Club Road) at S-49 (Char-Augusta Road). The purpose of the project is to improve traffic safety by reducing the frequency and severity of crashes. This intersection was selected for improvement through the Highway Safety Improvement Program, which uses a data-driven, strategic approach to identify locations throughout the state with high crash rates or patterns and implements safety enhancements through infrastructure-related improvements.

SCDOT will accept public comments on this project through March 5, 2026. For more information, visit: projectportal.scdot.org/SC70Roundabout.
