Columbia, S.C. (May 21, 2026) — The South Carolina Department of Transportation will conduct temporary lane closures and traffic pacing operations along the I-95 and I-26 interchange in Orangeburg and Dorchester Counties beginning Thursday, May 21, as part of the ongoing interchange improvement project.
The temporary lane closures will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday and are expected to be complete by 6 a.m. Friday, May 22.
Crews will shift I-95 southbound traffic near mile marker 86 (near Providence and Holly Hill exit) from a temporary alignment to the final traffic configuration and will also be setting bridge girders over the interstate.
As part of this phase of construction, the newly constructed I-95 southbound to I-26 westbound ramp will also be opened to traffic.
Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use caution while traveling through the work zone. SCDOT asks drivers to slow down, stay alert, and pay attention to crews and signs in the area.
