Columbia, S.C. (July 31, 2026) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) will conduct bridge repair work along Interstate 77 in York County, requiring temporary lane closures starting Sunday, August 2.
Beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday, crews will close the two right southbound lanes of I-77 near Exit 82, from mile markers 81.5 to 83. The closures will remain in place until 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, while crews work continuously in 24-hour shifts.
As part of the project, crews will also perform bridge deck patching on the bridges over Cherry Road, Celanese Road and Dave Lyle Boulevard.
Weather permitting, periodic bridge deck patching will continue at various times through the end of the year.
SCDOT asks that drivers slow down and pay attention when driving near the work zone. Drivers are encouraged to plan their route ahead with the 511SC App or at 511sc.org.
Drivers should expect delays and seek alternate routes if possible.
