Columbia, S.C. (August 3, 2026)— The South Carolina Department of Transportation will conduct routine inspections of the Ravenel Bridge in Charleston County beginning August 4.
These inspections should only have minor traffic impacts and will not require simultaneous multi-lane closures.
A schedule of the closures for improved visibility inspections are as follows:
- August 4 - 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. | Southbound right lane
- August 7 - 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. | Northbound right lane
- August 10 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. | Northbound right lane
During this time, drivers will likely see crew members on the towers and bridge cables as part of the inspection process.
SCDOT encourages drivers to slow down and pay attention to crews when driving through the work zone.
