Columbia, S.C. (March 17, 2026) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will conduct pacing operations and lane closures along I-26 Eastbound for the 1-26 Widening & SC 27 Interchange project in Berkeley County beginning March 17.
Lane closures and pacing operations will take place on March 17 through the morning of March 18. Lane closures will be in the slow lane and pacing will occur in the fast lane around mile marker 192.
Additionally, crews will be performing two traffic shifts on I-26 between mile marker 186 and 190 nightly beginning on March 22 at 7 p.m. until March 26 at 6 a.m.:
· From mile marker 186 to 188, traffic will shift right from the median towards the outside shoulder.
· From mile marker 188 to 190, traffic will shift left towards the median.
SCDOT asks that drivers slow down and pay attention to signs and crews when driving near the work zone.
