SCDOT to conduct lane closures on US-21 at McTeer Bridge in Beaufort County for emergency repairs

Columbia, S.C. (April 13, 2026) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will conduct lane closures on the McTeer Bridge on US-21 in Beaufort County for emergency repairs.

Earlier today, a truck towing a trailer struck the bridge’s expansion joint, dislodging it and requiring immediate repairs. Crews are mobilizing to secure the area and install steel road plates over the damaged joint.

Motorists should expect lane closures on US-21 beginning around midday as repairs are underway. Drivers are encouraged to slow down, use caution in the work zone, and expect possible delays.

SCDOT will provide updates as more information becomes available.
