SCDOT to Close Little Choestoea Road Bridge for Replacement Project in Oconee County

Columbia, S.C. (August 4, 2026) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will close the Little Choestoea Road (S-37-168) bridge over Tributary to Little Choestoea Creek in Oconee County beginning Tuesday, August 11, to allow crews to replace the existing bridge.

Due to the extensive work required, the closure is scheduled to continue until early January 2027, weather permitting.

Built in 1970, the Little Choestoea Road Bridge is part of a bridge replacement package in Oconee County that includes bridges that are subject to load restrictions.

Closed and load restricted bridges limit access for drivers and reduce connectivity for the communities that depend on these routes.

Detours for the closure have been established and are highlighted in green on the map below.

SCDOT asks that drivers slow down and pay attention to signs and crews when driving through the area.
