Columbia, S.C. (June 19, 2026) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will close the Gapway Road (S-20) Bridge over Indian Hut Swamp in Georgetown County for repairs beginning June 24.
As part of SCDOT's bridge inspection and maintenance program, crews will install upgraded materials to extend the bridge's service life and remove vehicle load capacity restrictions.
Weather dependent, the road is expected to reopen by early September 2026.

SCDOT asks that drivers slow down and pay attention to signs and crews when driving through the area.
