Columbia, S.C. (June 22, 2026) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will close the English Lane (S-31-228) bridge over Black River in Lee County for repairs beginning Monday, June 29.
As part of SCDOT's bridge inspection and maintenance program, crews will install upgraded materials to extend the bridge's service life.
Weather dependent, the road is expected to reopen by mid-August.
Detour routes have been established on the map below.
SCDOT asks that drivers slow down and pay attention to signs and crews when driving through the area.
