Columbia, S.C. (February 4, 2026) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation has developed an online survey to request input from local communities about potential impacts of six bridge replacement projects in Aiken, Bamberg, Orangeburg, Richland, and Sumter counties.
The survey is available at BP24Survey.com and requests input about the following bridges:
- S-809 (Marshall Street) over Horse Creek in Aiken County
- S-33 (Ascauga Lake Road) over Gregg Canal in Aiken County
- S-20 (Cannon Bridge Road) over South Edisto River in Bamberg County
- S-125 (Riverside Drive) over Sunnyside Canal in Orangeburg County
- S-1725 (Shorebrook Drive) over Jackson Creek in Richland County
- S-380 (Wise Drive) over Green Swamp in Sumter County
The online survey asks participants to share information about their bridge usage and to review proposed construction detour routes. Survey input from community members will inform SCDOT's efforts to develop preliminary designs for new bridges and construction plans. SCDOT will accept survey responses and comments through March 3, 2026.
The bridges are part of SCDOT's Bridge Package 24 and have been grouped together for accelerated and efficient replacement. The bridges have been identified as having one or more components in poor condition, and the purpose of the projects is to restore all components to good condition. The public may respond to the online survey or provide comments through the project website. Share comments by mail to Michael Pitts, SCDOT, 955 Park Street, Columbia, SC 29201, by phone call to (803) 737-2566, or by email to PittsME@scdot.org.
All comments received during a project comment period will be reviewed and included in the project record. Individuals who provide comments will receive a response upon request.
