Columbia, S.C. (January 26, 2026) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation requests comments on the proposed replacement of the S-40-1600 (Lakeland Drive) bridge over Eightmile Branch in Richland County.
The bridge is currently closed. The proposed project would restore the bridge to good condition, allowing it to open for vehicle traffic. Visit the project website to learn more about the project and share feedback: projectportal.scdot.org/LakelandDriveBridge.
SCDOT will accept comments through February 25, 2026. The public may provide comments through the project website, by mail to Tony Edwards, SCDOT, 955 Park Street, Columbia, SC 29201, by calling (803) 737-1238, or by email to EdwardsTE@scdot.org.
All comments received during a project comment period will be reviewed and included in the project record. Individuals who provide comments will receive responses upon request.
