SCDOT Conducting Lane Closures/New Traffic Pattern on US-17 in Jasper County

Columbia, S.C. (April 28, 2026) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation is conducting daytime lane closures on US-17 as part of the widening project in Jasper County near the Georgia/South Carolina state line until May 2.

Weather permitting, the closures will take place at the Speedway Boulevard and SC-315 intersection from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. through Friday, May 1.

The work allows for construction crews to widen US-17 from two to four travel lanes, divided by a median, and the construction of a bike lane.

The temporarily closure also requires a traffic control crew to temporarily stop one lane at a time on SC-315 for the paving process.

Additionally, a new traffic pattern will be installed on the morning of Saturday, May 2. The pattern will move the northbound lane of Speedway Boulevard to its final configuration, pushing traffic to the farthest right lane.

SCDOT asks that drivers slow down and pay attention to signs and crews when driving through the area.
