Columbia, S.C. (January 15, 2026) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation has completed the replacement of the US 601 bridge over Colonels Creek in Richland County, and the bridge is now open to traffic.
The former bridge was inspected and determined to be structurally deficient, requiring full replacement to ensure the safety of the traveling public. In response, SCDOT accelerated the replacement project to address the condition of the bridge as quickly as possible while minimizing impacts to motorists.
