Media Advisory: SCDOT to Host Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Completion of Pedestrian Crosswalk Improvements throughout the Lowcountry

Columbia, S.C. (August 4, 2026) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will host a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of more than 700 crosswalk improvements across Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, and Jasper Counties.

The improvements range from installing new signalized crosswalks and pedestrian heads to upgrading pedestrian ramps, push buttons and signals to the latest accessibility and safety standards.

The ceremony will take place on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 10 a.m. at 3495 Ashley Phosphate Road, North Charleston, South Carolina, 29418.

State and local officials, along with project partners, will join SCDOT Deputy Secretary for Engineering Rob Perry to commemorate the occasion.
