Columbia, S.C. (December 11, 2025) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will alternate temporarily closing the eastbound and westbound lanes of I-26 over Lake Bowen between mile markers 7 and 8 in Spartanburg County for bridge repairs. The closures will begin December 15 before 9 a.m. and are expected to last until December 19, pending any weather delays.
Repairs will begin with a closure of the eastbound right lane, with the eastbound left lane remaining open. Once repairs in the right lane are complete, that lane will reopen and crews will shift the closure to the eastbound left lane. All eastbound work is expected to be finished by midweek.
After eastbound repairs are complete, crews will close the westbound left lane to make necessary repairs, with the westbound right lane staying open during this work.

SCDOT asks that drivers slow down and pay attention to signs and crews when driving through the work zone.
