Columbia, S.C. (August 26, 2025) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will close Douglass Swamp Road for maintenance repairs on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
The closure is expected to last until 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 28. The work will take place surrounding the bridge over I-95 on Douglass Swamp Road, and drivers will not have access to the bridge at this time. Please note that Douglass Swamp Road will be open to local traffic only except at the repair site.
Traffic will detour onto Rush Road (S43-597) and Trinity Road (S43-61). A map of the detour route can be found below.
SCDOT asks that drivers slow down and pay attention when driving near the work zone. Drivers are encouraged to plan their route with the 511SC App or at 511sc.org.
Drivers should expect delays and seek alternate routes if possible.
