Columbia, S.C. (May 27, 2025)— The South Carolina Department of Transportation will temporarily close and detour the US 1 (Main Street) bridge over the CSX Railroad in the town of Elgin in Kershaw County for repairs beginning June 2. The closure is expected to last a week.
As part of this closure, a detour route will be put in place using Church Street, Smyrna Road, Goff Lane and Chestnut Road. A map of the detour can be found below.
SCDOT asks that drivers slow down and pay attention when driving near the work zone.
