SCDOT to conduct traffic pacing operations, closures on I-26 at SC 27 in Berkeley County for bridge demolition

Columbia, S.C. (October 9, 2025) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will conduct temporary, nighttime traffic pacing operations on I-26 at SC 27 in Berkeley County beginning October 13. These closures will allow crews to demolish the existing SC 27 bridge.

As part of these operations, traffic pacing operations will begin at 7 p.m. and will last until 10:30. At 10:30 p.m., traffic from both the Eastbound and Westbound lanes of I-26 will be directed up and over the SC 27 ramps. These operations will last until 4 a.m.

SCDOT asks that drivers slow down and pay attention when driving through the work zone. Drivers should expect delays and seek alternate routes, if possible.
