SCDOT to close Southbound Ashley River bridge in Charleston County for repairs

Columbia, S.C. (September 17, 2025) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will close the Southbound Ashley River bridge in Charleston County beginning tonight at 9 p.m. This closure will allow crews to complete bridge repairs.

As part of this closure, traffic will be detoured using the James Island Connector. A map of the affected area can be found below.

SCDOT asks drivers to seek alternate routes, if possible and expect delays. Please slow down and pay attention to crews and signs when driving through a work zone.
