SCDOT to close I-26 Westbound for Eagle Drive bridge construction in Charleston County

Columbia, S.C. (October 14, 2025) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will close I-26 near North Charleston beginning October 18 at 10 p.m. This closure is expected to last until the morning of October 19.

This closure will allow crews to perform work on the Eagle Drive bridge over I-26. This bridge was damaged after being struck by an over-height truck earlier this month.

As part of this repair work, SCDOT is asking that drivers avoid I-26 on Saturday night and use alternate routes. During this closure, all I-26 westbound traffic between I-526 and Ashley Phosphate Road will use Rivers Avenue (US 52) as a detour. Digital message boards and other detour signs will be used to alert drivers to the changes.
