SCDOT to close and detour South Spencer Street bridge in Spartanburg County for repairs

Columbia, S.C. (February 4, 2025)— The South Carolina Department of Transportation will close and detour the South Spencer Street bridge over the South Tyger River in Spartanburg County for repairs beginning February 4. The closure is expected to last until the end of the week.

A map of the detour can be found below. Please note that South Spencer Street will be open to local traffic only except at the bridge site.

Eastbound Traffic will be advised to the detour as follows:

 

Motorists will be advised to take South Spencer Street (S-42-62) to Woods Chapel Road (S-42-221). Turn left onto Robinson Road (S-42-221). Take Robinson Road (S-42-221) to the roundabout and merge onto Victor Hill Road (L-83). Victor Hill Road (L-83) will lead you back to South Spencer Street (S-42-62).

 

Westbound Traffic will be advised to the detour as follows:

 

Motorists will be advised to take South Spencer Street (S-42-62) to Victor Hill Road (L-83). Turn right onto Victor Hill Road (L-83) and follow to roundabout where they will merge onto Robinson Road (S-42-221). Take Robinson Road (S-42-221) to Woods Chapel Road (S-42-221). Woods Chapel Road (S-42-221) will lead you back to South Spencer Street (S-42-62).
