Columbia, S.C. (November 21, 2025) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will begin construction on the Gap Creek Road and Gary Armstrong Road roundabout project in Spartanburg County on December 8.
As part of this construction, SCDOT will conduct intermittent road closures on Gary Armstrong Road and Hamilton Road. These closure will allow crews to begin construction on the new intersection of Gap Creek Road at Gary Armstrong Road which will convert the traditional four-way stop to a roundabout.
Detour signs will be placed throughout the area to navigate drivers around the closures. A map of the affected area can be found below. Drivers should expect delays and seek alternate routes, if possible. Construction is expected to be complete in Fall of 2026.
SCDOT asks that drivers slow down and pay attention to signs and crews when driving near the work zone.
