SCDOT requests comments on proposed bridge project in Marion County

Columbia, S.C. (October 15, 2025) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation requests comments from the public on the proposed removal of the bridge on S-29 (Hoyt Rogers Road) over Maiden Down Swamp in Marion County.

SCDOT proposes to remove the structurally deficient bridge and intends to either realign Hoyt Rogers Road and reconnect it to SC 41 or to install a cul-de-sac on Hoyt Rogers Road near SC 41 to allow for easy turnaround. SCDOT will accept comments from October 15 to November 14, 2025. The public may provide comments through the project website, by mail to Tyler Davis, SCDOT, 955 Park St., Columbia, SC 29201, by calling (803) 737-1854, or by email to DavisTW@scdot.org.

All comments received during a project comment period will be reviewed and included in the project record. Individuals who provide comments will receive responses upon request.
