Columbia, S.C. (December 19, 2025) – The South Carolina Department of Transportation implemented a temporary closure of the I-126 West off-ramp to Colonial Life Boulevard on Monday, December 1, 2025. Due to unanticipated construction delays, this closure is being extended and is now expected to reopen at 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026. This date may change depending on weather conditions.
This continuous closure is necessary to allow crews to complete construction activities related to the Carolina Crossroads Project.
As part of this closure, drivers have been detoured to Greystone Boulevard, are directed to Broad River Road, and then to Bush River Road to access Colonial Life Boulevard. Message boards, lane closures, and detour signs have been placed along the route to guide motorists.
A map of the detour can be found below.
SCDOT asks drivers to slow down and pay attention to crews and signs when driving near work zones. Visit the Carolina Crossroads project webpage for more information and updates. The public may also contact the project hotline at 800-601-8715.
