Columbia, S.C. (December 23, 2025) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation has reopened the New Cut Road bridge over Motlow Creek in Spartanburg County following the replacement of the structure after it was damaged during Hurricane Helene.
The bridge sustained damage as a result of severe weather and flooding associated with the hurricane, prompting its closure to ensure public safety. Since that time, SCDOT crews and contractors have worked to assess the damage and complete the replacement to safely restore traffic.
The bridge has reopened to motorists, improving connectivity for local residents and allowing traffic to return to normal patterns in the area.
SCDOT appreciates the patience and cooperation of the community during the closure. The Department remains committed to restoring infrastructure as quickly and safely as possible following storm-related impacts.
