Columbia, S.C. (April 25, 2025) - On Friday, April 25, at 10 a.m., the South Carolina Department of Transportation along with the Town of Summerville and Dorchester County officials, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of Berlin G. Myers Parkway.
Construction on the Berlin G. Myers Parkway Phase III Project began in 2022 and is anticipated to be complete more than a year ahead of schedule. The purpose of this project was to improve safety, alleviate congestion and improve the flow of traffic through the area. The total cost of the project was $160 million.
Senator Lindsey Graham said, "The parkway expansion will be transformational for Summerville and the surrounding community by improving safety, traffic congestion and the flow of commerce. The completion of this project is a big deal and demonstrates what working together at the federal, state and local levels can accomplish for South Carolina. Well done to our South Carolina Team for making today a reality."
Senator Tim Scott said, "The completion of the Berlin G. Myers Parkway is a significant win for Dorchester County and the entire Summerville area. This project will greatly enhance safety, ease congestion, and support continued economic growth in one of South Carolina’s fastest-growing regions. Finishing ahead of schedule is a reflection of strong collaboration between federal, state, and local partners. This is proof of what we can accomplish when we work together to invest in the future of our communities.”

Myers Parkway more than a year ahead of schedule is a testament to what Team South Carolina can achieve when local, state, and federal leaders work together. As South Carolina's population continues to boom, our infrastructure must keep pace. This project is a great example of the transformative investments we're making in the Lowcountry and throughout the state to meet that demand.”
Mayor of Summerville Russ Touchberry said, “The Town of Summerville is excited for this much needed project to open and provide relief to many of our residents. I want to express my gratitude to SCDOT and Banks Construction for their professionalism and community engagement throughout their work. I appreciate them being a good neighbor and congratulate them on completing this project over a year ahead of schedule.”
Secretary of Transportation Justin Powell said, "Berlin G. Myers Parkway is a vital route for the growing town of Summerville. We are excited to celebrate this project's completion ahead of schedule so that we can continue to move people and goods through South Carolina and improve our economy."
The road will fully open to traffic in the coming days.
