The South Carolina Department of Transportation will temporarily close the bridge on SC 121 over I-26 in Newberry. The bridge was recently inspected after a vehicle struck the bridge and it was determined that the bridge needed to be closed for repair.
The bridge was already scheduled to close in January 2025 for a rehabilitation project that includes raising the current structure. The bridge will be closed until that project is complete which is currently anticipated in spring 2025. All interstate travel lanes remain open.
As part of this closure, a detour route has been put in place. A map of the detour can be found below.
SCDOT encourages drivers to slow down and pay attention to signs and crews when driving through the work zone.
