Columbia, S.C. (October 14, 2024)—The South Carolina Department of Transportation will temporarily close and detour the Catawba River Road bridge over an abandoned railroad in Chester County for repairs beginning October 21. The closure is expected to last until the end of November.
During the repairs, the road will be closed at the bridge site and traffic will be detoured using Rock Hill Highway (SC 5), Charlotte Highway (US 521) and Highway 9 Bypass West (SC 9). A map of the closure and detour is below. Please note that Catawba River Road will be open to local traffic only, except at the bridge site.
