SCDOT opens another section of Hardscrabble Road Project

Columbia, S.C. (June 17, 2024) – The South Carolina Department of Transportation has begun reopening another section of the Hardscrabble Road Project beginning near Farrow Road and ending at the bridge over Crane Creek. Crews are working to remove the cones in the area. The completed section is expected to be fully opened by the end of the day.

This section is approximately 1.5 miles of the project and the improvements include a new widened four-lane roadway and a smooth driving surface.

The project improves approximately 8 miles of Hardscrabble Road. At this time, crews are on track to complete the project by Spring of 2025. SCDOT will continue to release updates on the Hardscrabble Road Project as they become available.

We encourage drivers to drive slowly and pay attention when driving through work zones. You can plan your drive ahead of time by using SCDOT's 511 SC app or by visiting http://www.511sc.org/ .

SCDOT remains committed to delivering this project and improving transportation throughout this area.
