SCDOT to temporarily close lanes on I-85 Southbound in Spartanburg County for construction

Columbia, S.C. (August 16, 2024)—The South Carolina Department of Transportation will temporarily shift traffic to one lane on I-85 southbound in Spartanburg County beginning on Friday, August 23. The purpose of this closure is to allow crews to construct a new concrete lane between mile marker 79 and 80.

The closure will begin at 10 p.m. on August 23 and will reopen on two new concrete lanes on August 26 at 6 a.m. A map of the closure can be found below.

SCDOT asks drivers to slow down and pay attention when driving near work zones.

Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes. You can plan your route ahead of time by using SCDOT's 511 SC app or by visiting 511sc.org.

I-85 Southbound between mile marker 79 and 80 will have a traffic shift.
