Section of S.C. 56 in Laurens County to be closed temporarily

​Laurens, S.C. (December 4, 2023) - Beginning the morning of Tuesday, Dec. 5, a section of S.C. 56 in Laurens County will be temporarily closed to allow for environmental work following a fuel spill. The work will be performed by a South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control-approved contractor, and is expected to be completed this month.

Detour Information

Drivers traveling north on S.C. 56 may turn left onto Springdale Drive and turn left at the light onto South Broad Street. Drivers may continue south for three miles, turn left onto Greenplain Road, and continue east towards S.C. 56.

SCDOT asks drivers in the area to slow down, use caution, and follow signage.
