Columbia, S.C. (December 1, 2023) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will close a section of South Main Street, near the intersection of College Street, to allow for the installation of a new underground drainage system starting on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
Work will take place during the day. Each evening, barricades will be removed and South Main Street will be open to traffic in both directions. College Street will remain open throughout the work, which is expected to last through the week.
During the closure, motorists should access this block of South Main Street from the Pendleton Street side. SCDOT will put detour signage in place. Drivers should slow down and use caution.
