Columbia, S.C. (August 1, 2023) – SCDOT will begin restricting left turns from Spears Creek Church Road onto Interstate 20 in both directions during peak traffic hours starting Thursday, August 3. Signage will direct motorists not to turn left from Spears Creek Church Road onto I-20 eastbound or westbound during the hours of 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m.
SCDOT is making these changes on this Richland County road in order to help alleviate traffic congestion during peak travel times. Eliminating left turns during these times will help prevent vehicles from backing up in both directions, which can cause traffic congestion and pose safety issues in the surrounding area.
SCDOT asks motorists to plan alternate routes ahead of time and use caution as this new traffic pattern is put into place.
