Following a vehicle collision earlier today, the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) closed the Socastee Swing Bridge to traffic. The bridge is on Dick Pond Road over the Intracoastal Waterway in Horry County.
The Socastee Swing Bridge will remain closed while SCDOT officials inspect it for damage. Inspection crews are on site tonight and will continue their work tomorrow, June 13. Following inspection, SCDOT will provide an update on the condition of the bridge.
A signed closure and detour route has been put in place using SC-544. SCDOT asks motorists to drive cautiously in the area to keep crews safe and allow fellow motorists to adjust to the detour route.
