SCDOT Reduces Traffic on One Lane in Each Direction on S.C. Route 176

SCDOT has reduced traffic to one lane in each direction on the bridge on S.C. Route 176 over Norfolk Southern Railroad in Spartanburg County. Following a recent inspection, SCDOT is making these lane closures while a plan is finalized for repairing the bridge on 176. The repair project is already under development and will include improvements to the bridge that will lift all current load restrictions.

During the repairs, motorists may experience temporary road closures for equipment placement and to allow for some stages of the repair work. These closures will be scheduled in advance and SCDOT will notify the public ahead of time.

Based on current traffic, SCDOT does not anticipate that the lane closures will cause significant delays.

SCDOT is repairing and replacing hundreds of deficient bridges across South Carolina as part of the agency’s Strategic 10-Year Plan to improve the state’s roads and bridges.
