SCDOT Reduces Traffic to One Lane in Each Direction on S.C. Route 576

SCDOT has reduced traffic to one lane in each direction on the dual bridges on S.C. Route 576. SCDOT is making these lane closures to allow for repairs to the bridges on 576, which cross Smith Swamp near Marion.

During the repairs, motorists may experience temporary road closures for equipment placement and to allow for some stages of the repair work. These closures will be scheduled in advance and SCDOT will notify the public ahead of time.

Based on current traffic, SCDOT does not anticipate that the lane closures will cause significant delays. Because 576 is a popular route to the Grand Strand area, SCDOT plans to complete bridge repairs before Memorial Day 2023.

SCDOT is repairing and replacing hundreds of deficient bridges across South Carolina as part of the agency's Strategic 10-Year Plan to improve the state's roads and bridges.
