The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) plans to replace the bridge on US 1 (Two Notch Road) over CSX Railroad in Richland County as the agency works to replace hundreds of deficient bridges across the state.
The bridge is currently load restricted, and the new bridge will remove that restriction. In addition, there will be minor improvements to the intersection with Fontaine Road as well as drainage improvements throughout the corridor.
The bridge replacement will also allow for future expansion of railroad infrastructure to accommodate the growing need of logistics and allow commodities to travel efficiently through the state.
Work is scheduled to begin in October. The bridge should be fully reopened to traffic by August 2025.
