The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) is building a new and improved bridge on Shiloh Road (S-41-78) over Persimmon Creek in Saluda County.
The new bridge will be wider and safer with upgraded barrier walls and will no longer be weight restricted.
During construction it will be necessary for the roadway to close July 11, 2022, with access to be maintained for the properties within the road closure. Pending delays due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, Shiloh Road is expected to re-open to traffic approximately Nov. 8, 2022
Replacing deteriorating, load-restricted bridges is one of SCDOT's 10-Year Plan programs, which include repaving aging roads, making rural roads safer, and improving key portions of interstates. SCDOT has tripled its roadwork to improve South Carolina's transportation network after more than 30 years of deferred maintenance.
