New Traffic Pattern – S-73 (Fish Hatchery Road) / S-719 (Busbee Road) Lexington County

The S.C. Department of Transportation (SCDOT) currently has an Intersection Improvement project to construct a traffic circle at Fish Hatchery Road at Busbee Road in Lexington County.

Effective September 10, 2021, this intersection will be transitioned from its current "All Way" stop configuration to a "Round-a-bout" traffic pattern with yield control.  This is necessary to remove the temporary pavement from the center of the traffic circle, and complete construction of the center-island and concrete truck apron.

Once the center is completed, the final asphalt surface will be placed, and final pavement markings will be installed.  All construction is estimated to be completed by early fall of 2021.

This project in Lexington County is funded by the increased state gas tax enacted in 2017.  The increased revenue supports SCDOT's 10-Year Plan to rebuild South Carolina's roads and bridges after 30 years of deferred maintenance due to lack of funding.

Motorists traveling through the work zone are asked to be aware of equipment and crews working adjacent to traffic at all times. "Let 'em Work. Let 'em Live."
